Vol. 217 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Charges in Cafés.

88.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what fair trading precautions are enforced to prevent a café proprietor from advertising a price in his display window which is in fact less than the price actually charged for the foodstuffs advertised.

There are no fair trading rules or orders in force to govern the type of situation in question. The need for any regulations on this point has not been demonstrated as the legal position appears to be fairly well known.

The Minister will want to bring in his new Bill quickly.
