Vol. 219 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Repair of Offaly Lane.

12.

asked the Minister for Finance if he has received an application for a grant under the rural improvements scheme for the repair, widening, tarring and removal of sharp bends on Kilarles Lane, Geashill, County Offaly; if it has been inspected; if so, when; what is the estimated cost of putting the lane in good repair; what local contribution must be made by the three residents; and if, on completion, the Offaly County Council will then take it over for all future maintenance and repair.

An application has been received for the repair of the road referred to. It was inspected on 21st January, 1965. The estimate for repairing 205 perches of road as far as Michael Hyland's house, with a gravel surface, to its existing width is £548, for which the local contribution is £164. There is an alternative estimate of £599, for which the local contribution is £180, for tar surfacing the first 63 perches and gravel surfacing the remainder. The question of the road being declared a public road, on completion of the repairs, is a matter for Offaly County Council.

Question No. 13.

We will hold it over.

Mr. O'Leary

Shall I repeat the question next week? Does the Parliamentary Secretary think he will have found the answer by then?

Question No. 13 postponed.
