Vol. 219 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballymun Housing Scheme.

89.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (a) the names of consultants and advisers employed by him in connection with the Ballymun Scheme, Dublin, and (b) the arrangements for the payment of these consultants and advisers.

No one was employed by me in connection with this contract, which was entered into by the National Building Agency Ltd. The duties of architect for the purpose of contract control are carried out by an officer on secondment from the permanent technical staff of my Department. The Agency has retained the services of Desmond MacGreevy and Associates. quantity surveyors, J.A. Kenny and Partners, consulting engineers, for mechanical and electrical services and J. McCullough, consulting engineer, for civil and structural works. The terms of engagement in each case are a matter of internal administration for the Agency.

Can the Minister say the number of people employed both in the office and on the site?

It would, I am afraid, be impossible to do that. The only thing I can say is that the number employed on the Agency site—that is people operating from the corporation's point of view—would be quite small.

Would it be correct to say there are over 100 both in the office and on the Agency site?

I would not agree with that at all. Actually, I can get the numbers and I can let the Deputy have them at some later date.
