asked the Taoiseach if he will state in respect of frozen eviscerated turkeys (a) the estimated total number exported to date this year, (b) the countries to which they have been exported and the estimated number of turkeys to each country, and (c) how much total exports are up or down on the same period last year; and if he will express the estimated exports to date this year as a percentage of the number of turkeys under six months old given in the preliminary estimate for June 1965 compiled by the Central Statistics Office.

Exports of turkey meat are recorded by weight. On the assumption that 1 cwt of eviscerated turkey represents 11 birds it is estimated that exports of eviscerated turkeys, frozen or not, in the period January-November 1965 totalled approximately 847, all of which were consigned to Sweden. Similar exports in the same period of 1964 are estimated at 7,095 birds. The numbers of such turkeys exported this year constitute 0.17 per cent of the numbers of turkeys under six months of age returned at the June 1965 Agricultural Statistics Enumeration.
