Vol. 219 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Monaghan Hospital Kitchen.

138.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware that for many years the staff employed in St. Davnet's Hospital, County Monaghan have been complaining about the antiquated, unhygienic and badly ventilated kitchen in the hospital; and when it is intended to install a modern kitchen in this hospital.

Mr. O'Malley

I am aware that for some time past the general condition of the main kitchen at St. Davnet's Hospital has been unsatisfactory. Approval in principle has been given for the provision by the hospital authority of a new kitchen, staff dining accommodation, stores and boilerhouse. Planning has proceeded and working drawings are in course of preparation. I am informed that all the necessary contract documents for the new kitchen and the other works should be completed by May or June of next year.
