asked the Minister for Education if he has received a resolution from the Cork County Vocational Education Committee seeking sanction to the funding of scholarships in areas where voluntary transport of pupils has been organised and permitting the transfer of such funds towards relief of the transport costs; and, if so, what decision has been reached in regard to it.

A resolution of 25th November, 1965, has been received from the County Cork Vocational Education Committee in the following terms:
that the Minister be requested to allow the Committee to make grants available to Parents' Associations so as to allow them to initiate schemes of subsidised transport in the case of students living in districts remote from a Technical School.
This request cannot be granted under the Vocational Education Acts.
The County Cork Vocational Education Committee already has my authority for the operation of a scholarship scheme to assist pupils who live at a distance from vocational schools in defraying the cost of travelling to such schools.
