Vol. 219 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Import of Milk Tanks.

26.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state with regard to reports of the importation of two 20,000 gallon stainless steel milk tanks whether customs duty was paid thereon; if so, how much; and, if not, why.

A general licence issued to the importers by the Minister for Industry and Commerce authorising the admission of the tanks without payment of the customs duty normally chargeable thereon was produced. However, by virtue of Article 7 of the Anglo-Irish Trade Agreement of 1938, the tanks were charged with a duty of ten per centum ad valorem.

The transactions of individual traders with the Revenue Commissioners are treated as confidential matters and particulars as to the amount of customs duty paid cannot be given.
