Vol. 219 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clerical Officer Vacancies.

39.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he has received representations protesting against limiting clerical officer vacancies to men only; and, if so, what action he proposes to take in the matter.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. In regard to the second part, I would refer the Deputy to the reply which I gave to a question by Deputy H. P. Dockrell on 14th December.

40.

asked the Minister for Finance if, having regard to a recent advertisement in the national press for male clerical officers in the Civil Service, he will outline the duties which such officers will be expected to perform; and why the vacancies are not open to female applicants.

In regard to the first part of this question, the officers referred to will, in accordance with the conditions of service prescribed for the competition, be required to perform any duties that may be assigned to them from time to time by direction of the Minister in charge of the Department in which they are serving as appropriate to their position.

In regard to the second part, I would refer the Deputy to the reply which I gave to a question by Deputy H. P. Dockrell on 14th December.
