Vol. 220 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Civil Service Arbitration Awards.

20.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in paying the increased remuneration recently awarded by the arbitrator to certain grades of the Civil Service.

Payment of increased remuneration recommended by the Civil Service Arbitration Board has been made in all instances in which reports have been received from the Board and accepted by the Government. It is expected that the Board will shortly issue three further reports on claims in regard to which it has concluded its deliberations.

Can the Minister say the dates on which the Board deliberated on the three matters in connection with which he expects to receive reports soon?

I am not sure what the three matters are. They do not appear on the information I have.

Am I to understand from what the Minister has said that all the cases heard in December have, in fact, been reported? My information is that though a number of cases were determined in December increases have not yet been paid.

I expect that reports on the cases heard in December will shortly be issued.

Have they been paid? Will the Government accept the reports and, if so, when will they be paid?

If the Deputy has specific claims in mind I suggest he should ask specific questions because I cannot segregate the cases he mentions——

There are court clerks, assistant librarians——

In the matter of court clerks the finding was made on 16th December. The report is expected shortly.

There is also the matter of the Ordnance Survey.
