Vol. 220 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Traffic Privileges for Buses.

35.

Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Local Government whether his attention has been drawn to the recent statement by the Manager of the Dublin city bus services that the necessity for the relief of road congestion made a strong case for the granting of traffic privileges for buses such as preferential treatment at intersections and bus freeways; and whether it is proposed to grant any extension of traffic privileges for buses.

As I recently stated in reply to a question by Deputy Mullen, traffic privileges for buses are matters for consideration by the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána, who has the initiative in the making of traffic bye-laws, and by Dublin Corporation, as the road authority.
