On the recommendation of the Regional Development Committee which I set up to advise on the implementation of the Government's policy to establish industrial estates, a technical assessment has been made of possible sites for the industrial estate in Galway. These results are being considered by the bodies concerned including an Foras Tionscal, which will be responsible for the establishment and administration of the estate. I understand that proposals for necessary legislation in relation to the functions of An Foras are being prepared by the Minister for Industry and Commerce.
Progress in the matter generally will be reviewed by the Regional Development Committee at a further meeting very soon.
