Vol. 220 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Estates.

44.

asked the Minister for Lands when it is proposed to allot the remaining portion of the Condon Estate, Ballyvera, Ardfinnan, County Tipperary comprising ten acres and the Long Estate, Tulla, Ardfinnan comprising nine acres.

It is expected that the area on hands of the Land Commission in this district, comprising some 35 acres, will be allotted during the present month.

Is the Minister aware that there are only two small divisions here, one of nine acres and the other of ten acres? The remainder of the estate was allocated to applicants and people who have been most anxious to have the estate divided have been paying exorbitant prices for the past number of years to keep their claim to the grazing rights which they enjoy at present. The successful economy of their farms rests on an early division of this land.

I appreciate what the Deputy has said. These are remnants and there are, in fact, 35 acres involved. I have informed the Deputy that it is hoped to allot these remnants during the present month and these people will not have to wait much longer.
