asked the Minister for External Affairs the total number of people invited, and the basis of selection of those invited, to the special showing of the film An Tine Bheo at the Savoy cinema on Easter Sunday night, the total cost involved, and by what Department this cost was borne.

The number invited amounted to almost 2,000, the largest single category being the survivors of the Rising who, with their wives or relatives, and relatives of the executed leaders, occupied approximately 1,250 seats.

The remaining 700 seats were occupied by the following categories of persons with their wives :—

Members of the Government; Dáil; Seanad; Northern Parliament and Senate; Dublin Corporation (Aldermen); Judiciary; Universities; Cultural organisations; Civil Service; Semi-State bodies; Army; Gardaí, Press, etc; representatives of industrial and professional bodies and national organisations including Employers and Trades Unions; members of the Irish and foreign Press and persons visiting Ireland in a representative capacity for the Jubilee Celebrations.

The cost of renting the cinema was £350, which will be borne on the Department of Finance's Vote for Miscellaneous Expenses.
