Vol. 222 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water Supply Schemes.

34.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the prolonged delay in the completion of the Ballymote regional water supply scheme, County Sligo.

I understand that the delay in the completion of this scheme is mainly due to technical difficulties in construction works at the intake and in the completion of the pipeline. I have been informed that it is hoped to make a temporary supply available shortly to the areas where pipes have been laid.

35.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received a request from Donegal County Council to sanction a loan for the Glenties-Ardara scheme; and, if so, the date of such request, and when the loan will be sanctioned.

Donegal County Council's application for a loan for this scheme was submitted to my Department on 5th October, 1965. I am not in a position to say when this loan will be sanctioned.

Would the Minister tell the House what is the delay and why it is not possible to say if it will be sanctioned?

Approval to the acceptance of the tender has not yet issued.

For various reasons of examination taking place.

The main one will be money.

The money is what the question relates to. I am giving what should have gone before and has not.

36.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is now in a position to state when the proposed water supply scheme for the Manorcunningham district, County Donegal, will be put into effect.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply given to his question of 23rd March, 1966, on this scheme. There have been no further developments since then.
