Vol. 223 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Banks Dispute.

32.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if in view of the breakdown in the talks between the representatives of the Banks Staff Relations Committee and the Irish Bank Officials Association, and the serious effect on the economy of a continuation of the present dispute, he proposes to take any action and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A Conciliation Officer of the Labour Court has arranged for further talks with the parties in this dispute and it is my expectation that these talks will lead to an early resumption of negotiations aimed at a settlement.

Would the Minister say when the discussions will take place?

I am not quite clear— probably at the end of this week or the beginning of next week.
