Vol. 223 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Repair of Dublin Bridge.

26.

asked the Minister for Local Government if early repairs will be effected by the Dublin Corporation to the Halfpenny Bridge having regard to the danger to pedestrians caused by the many holes in the planks there.

I am asking Dublin Corporation for a report on this matter and will communicate with the Deputy as soon as it is available.

Could I ask the Minister to use his good offices to expedite this matter? It has been brought to the attention of Dublin Corporation by numerous people but still the platform of the bridge is full of holes so that not only ladies catch their stiletto heels in them but men also catch their heels in the strips of steel which are laid across the planks.

There is no danger of Deputy Burke falling through one of them?

I should be very nervous about Deputy Burke crossing that bridge.

We shall have a look at the matter as soon as possible.
