Vol. 225 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Agricultural Advisory Services.

90.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries whether an examination of the agricultural advisory services is being made by foreign experts; and, if so, if he will state (i) the purpose of this examination, (ii) by whom it is being carried out, and (iii) the cost of the examination.

As announced by my Department on 12th October, I have arranged for a study of our agricultural advisory service by two eminent outside authorities, Mr. W.E. Jones, Director, and Mr. A.J. Davies, Chief Farm Management Adviser of the National Agricultural Advisory Service for England and Wales. The purpose of the study is to advise me on the possible steps that might be taken to improve the agricultural advisory service. As the study has only just begun, it is not possible to indicate the cost at this stage, but it will not be substantial.

On a point of order. I do not think Question No. 86 was answered at all.

The Deputy should have drawn attention to this earlier. I am sure all the questions were called by me. Question No. 86 has been marked off by me as having been answered.
