Plans for the new automatic telephone exchange, which constitutes the first stage of the development scheme at Clonmel post office, have been settled. The detailed drawings for the exchange are being prepared by the Office of Public Works and I understand that it is hoped to invite building tenders in about nine months' time. It is not yet possible to indicate when the second stage of the development scheme, involving enlargement of the public office, the sorting office and the clerical accommodation, will be undertaken.
