Vol. 226 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fire Brigade Equipment.

11.

asked the Minister for Local Government if all the brigades are properly equipped to fight oil fires; if not, if he will ensure that in view of the increasing use of oil in industry all brigades are equipped with powder or foam and any other equipment necessary to deal with conflagrations of this nature.

It is for each fire brigade authority to decide the type of equipment necessary to enable them to fulfil their obligations under the Fire Brigades Act, 1940. I understand that all fire brigade authorities, with one exception, have provided foam equipment and that in this one case, arrangements are being made for the provision of such equipment.
