Vol. 228 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Garda Station.

41.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that grass is not growing in some of the areas reserved for grass at Crumlin Garda station, Dublin, because of the location of the patches at a busy junction much used by pedestrians; and if he will have the patches paved at an early date.

I am aware that the position is as stated by the Deputy. The question of paving the areas is being considered.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary say what consideration needs to be given? Will this be paved or will it not?

There are several things can be done with the area in question. It can all be paved; it can be part-paved; or it can be left in grass. There are various implications in each of these three things.

Call in the British Navy.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that the area around the corner is not a plot of grass at all? The grass will not grow. I am sure the Parliamentary Secretary is not blaming the fairies for that.

The Deputy will be aware that if the whole area were paved, we might have the state of affairs where it might be used as a turning area right up to the windows of the Garda station.

May I take it that any place where there is no grass will be paved and the area with grass will be left?

It may be that a part will be paved and a part left with grass. The whole question is being examined by the technical people involved.
