asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether any exceptional circumstances gave rise to the increase of £1,107,000 in the value of re-exports of tobacco in the year 1966 as compared with 1965.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Re-Exports of Tobacco.
51.
I understand that the increase in the value of re-exports of tobacco in 1966 reflects the re-exportation of an exceptionally large quantity of American tobacco by a commercial firm. The Deputy will appreciate that I am not in a position to discuss the matter more fully.
There is no special reason for it, except an ordinary commercial transaction? There is no legal or peculiar significance?
No. As I said, it was American tobacco, and it is purely for an internal, non-recurring reason in this firm.
