Vol. 228 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Housing Schemes.

6.

asked the Minister for Local Government what progress has been made by Donegal County Council regarding the erection of housing schemes at (a) Inch Island and (b) Fahan, County Donegal.

I understand from Donegal County Council that steps are being taken by them for the acquisition of a site for a housing scheme at Inch Island, and that the housing needs in the Fahan area will be served by the proposed Burnfoot scheme.

Is the Minister in a position to say when money will be available for Donegal County Council to carry on with the schemes they have applied for?

There is no hold-up in money for housing schemes.

Did I hear the Minister say that there was no hold-up in housing in Donegal?

In money for housing. Donegal County Council have been notified of the initial allocation on foot of commitments of work now approved, as of 31st March, 1967, which amounted to £260,000.

Is the Minister aware that the initial amount allocated is not sufficient to carry out the housing programme?

If and when further tenders are being sanctioned, there will be a supplementary allocation.

There is a hold-up?

There is no hold-up.
