Vol. 230 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Travelling Expenses of State Appointment Candidates.

33.

asked the Minister for Finance if the Civil Service Commission or the Local Appointments Commission make any contribution towards the travelling expenses of those called for interview or written examination; and if each Commission will make arrangements to provide travel at specially reduced rates to candidates who must, at present, pay the full fare to travel to centres which are long distances from their homes.

Neither the Civil Service Commission nor the Local Appointments Commission normally make any contribution towards the travelling expenses of those called for interview or written examination. By holding competitions in various local centres and by grouping competitions where possible, both Commissions ensure that the expenses are kept to a minimum.
