Vol. 230 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Toilet Facilities in Kerry School.

43.

asked the Minister for Education if he will provide toilet facilities for Laraugh national school, Kenmare, County Kerry, from the new Laraugh water scheme which is adjacent to the school, as there are no such facilities there at present.

Mr. O'Malley

The Commissioners of Public Works are being asked to report on the feasibility of utilising the new public water supply for the provision of toilet facilities at Laraugh national school, Kenmare, County Kerry.

If a suitable scheme for the installation of flushed sanitation can be devised, the necessary arrangements will be pressed forward with all possible speed.

As the water has to be brought from the sea, would it not be a good thing if we got a water supply in? This is one of the two water schemes for the whole of Kerry. All we got last year were the two main water schemes. It would be good if the Minister went into the question of having an instalment system there. It would not cost much and water has to be drawn from the sea a quarter of a mile away to flush this lavatory.

Mr. O'Malley

The point seems reasonable. I shall look into it.
