Vol. 231 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions (Resumed). - Disabled Persons' Allowances.

129.

asked the Minister for Health the amount of money available to the County Wexford Health Authority for the disabled persons maintenance allowance for the year ended 31st March, 1967 and for the year ending 31st March, 1968.

I assume that the Deputy is referring to money made available by way of grant from the vote for my Department.

The grants payable to health authorities in recoupment of their revenue expenditure are not related specifically to the different services, but are based on the total expenditure for each year. For the year ended 31st March, 1967, the total grant payable to Wexford County Council represents 52 per cent of expenditure, and for the current year it is estimated that the grant will represent 52.7 per cent of expenditure.

The amounts expended, or to be expended, on allowances to disabled persons are stated by the health authority to be £75,618 for the year 1966-67 and £91,000 for the current year.
