Vol. 231 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions (Resumed). - Offaly Dispensary Residence, Birr.

138.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware that the dispensary residence in Kinnitty, Birr, County Offaly is in a very bad state of repair; and if an officer of his Department will call to inspect it as soon as possible.

While I am aware that the dispensary residence in Kinnitty is in need of repair, the maintenance of the house is primarily a matter for Offaly County Council. I understand that the council has had repairs carried out to the premises in recent years and that they were recently inspected in detail by members of the council's engineering staff.

In the circumstances, I do not consider that an inspection of the residence by an officer of my Department is necessary. I have asked the council for an early report regarding the premises and I will consider the position when I have received and considered this report.
