Vol. 231 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions (Resumed). - Wages of Local Authority Employees.

27.

asked the Minister for Local Government the rate of wages paid to employees of each local authority including labourers, gangers, foremen, overseers, assisting engineers' clerks and drivers separately.

The information requested is not available in my Department for all the classes of employees referred to, but is being obtained from local authorities and will be forwarded to the Deputy.

On those questions, this is something I raised before. When a Deputy asks a question, surely the question and the answer becomes the property of the House? Would it be proper to ask the Deputy to repeat the question at a time when the information will be available so that it will be in the Dáil Report? Will the Minister do that?

I will do that. The question is whether Deputy Tully wants this in the Official Report. I have offered to send the information to him. If he prefers me to tell him that it is now available I will do that.

This is a matter of principle. I want to see all answers in the Official Report.

What I can do then is: when the information is available, I can notify Deputy Tully that he can put down a question. Is that what Deputy Tully wants?

We cannot have a discussion on this point.

I am assuming that is what Deputy Tully wants.
