Vol. 231 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions (Resumed). - Kennedy Memorial Hall.

77.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will give an assurance that there is no intention of siting the proposed Kennedy Memorial Hall in the Phoenix Park, Dublin.

The question of a suitable site for the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hall is still under consideration.

Does the Minister not think that perhaps two hospitals for retarded children would be a far better memorial to the late President Kennedy than any concert hall, when there are so many retarded children in the country who cannot get accommodation? I put that up as a serious suggestion. Scrap the whole thing and have two hospitals at £1 million each.

That is a separate question.

The Deputy's Party have members on the committee advising the Government.

Do not sell us that one. We sat on a committee. That is all. This is your decision. What about two hospitals at £1 million each for retarded children?
