Vol. 231 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions (Resumed). - County Galway Drainage Scheme.

85.

asked the Minister for Finance if there are any objections to the carrying out of the drainage of Turloughcor, Headford, County Galway under the Corrib-Headford arterial drainage scheme; and, if so, if he will state what these objections are, in view of the fact that all local interests are in favour of having this scheme carried out to improve several hundred acres of land.

The drainage of Turloughcor is included in the Corrib-Headford drainage scheme. Representations have been received that the area should be preserved as a haunt for wildfowl. The best way of reconciling the drainage and wildlife interests is being considered in consultation with the Department of Lands.
