Vol. 231 No. 12

Continental Shelf Bill, 1967: First Stage.

Leave granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to make provision in relation to the exploration and exploitation of the continental shelf and to provide for matters connected with the matters aforesaid.
—(Minister for Industry and Commerce.)

What is the continental shelf?

Where the fish are.

You would to have to wait for the return of the Irish Houdini from New York to know what that is.

Basically, it is the area over which we would exercise control over mineral rights, outside our territorial waters.

Second Stage ordered for 31st January, 1968.
