asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether there is any result yet from the investigation into crashes of aircraft at Ashtown and Dublin Airport; when the report will be published; and if he will ensure in future that all such investigations take place in public.

The Inspectors of Accidents appointed to carry out the preliminary investigations in these cases have completed their investigations and it is expected that their reports will be available within the next few weeks. The findings will then be published as soon as possible.

It would not be practicable to carry out preliminary investigations of aircraft accidents in public. If, however, as a result of an investigation. I consider it expedient to direct the holding of a public inquiry in any case where the public interest so demands, the Deputy may rest assured that a public inquiry will be held under the provisions of the Air Navigation Transport Acts.
