Vol. 234 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - West Coast Lobster Beds.

19.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he has given a licence to foreigners to fish the lobster beds off the west coast.

The answer to the Deputy's question is "No".

The Minister says he has not given a licence. Will he examine the position and see why foreigners are fishing for lobster off the west coast?

Is the Deputy making the information available to me that they are?

It is in the public press.

Do not mind what is in the public press. Has the Deputy got information on this which I have not got?

It is the Minister's business to look for it.

I understand that the Deputy represents a constituency and that he is concerned about the fishermen. If he is, will he stop making charges he cannot stand over? Either stand over them or stop making them.

I can stand over them.

Either stand over them or do not make them.

If the Minister does not want to do his duty, he should resign.

The Deputy has some duties too.
