asked the Minister for Finance the present position regarding the drainage of the Groody River, County Limerick; and when work is likely to commence.

Because of the requirements of schemes of higher priority in the drainage programme, I cannot say when this work may be carried out.

Mr. O'Malley

asked the Minister for Finance when work can be expected to start on the drainage of the Mulcaire river in view of the continuous serious flooding in east County Limerick.

asked the Minister for Finance when work is likely to commence on the Mulcaire drainage scheme, County Limerick.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 52 and 53 together.

Engineering and valuation surveys of this catchment area have been completed and work on the design of a scheme is proceeding. When the formal scheme has been completed, it must be exhibited locally and other requirements of the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, must be complied with. At this stage it is not possible to say when works can be commenced.

asked the Minister for Finance what is the present position regarding the Maigue drainage scheme, County Limerick.

The preparation of the formal scheme for the Maigue is nearly completed but until the scheme has been exhibited and confirmed in accordance with the Act I cannot say when works can be begun.
