Vol. 236 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meath Housing Loans.

21.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he proposes to sanction the loans for the erection of houses at Slane and Oldcastle and for a number of rural cottages in County Meath.

: My approval issued last week to the loan proposal for the Slane scheme. There is no proposal before my Department for a housing scheme at Oldcastle. The loan proposal for the council's rural cottage scheme was submitted on 20th of last month and will be dealt with as quickly as possible.

: Would the Minister not agree that in view of the fact that his Department held up the scheme for rural cottages for three months before he agreed to the tender, it is a bit unreasonable to hold it up further now by failure to sanction the permission to borrow?

: The 20th of last month is not a long time ago and it will be dealt with as quickly as possible.

: What does that mean?

: As soon as we can.

: As soon as he can get his hands in a few pounds.
