Vol. 236 No. 7

Written Answer. - Monaghan Park Request.

93.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he has received representations from the Monaghan Development Committee requesting that part of the lands on the Rossmore Estate, County Monaghan, will be reserved as a park for the town of Monaghan; and whether he proposes to accede to this request.

: Representations have been received from the Monaghan Development Committee regarding the provision of facilities for public access and recreation on that portion of the former Rossmore Estate which is now in the possession of the Forestry Division of my Department.

It is a settled feature of forest policy that suitable forest areas will be opened up for public access as circumstances permit and the matter will be examined in the light of that policy.

There is already public access to the area on an informal basis.
