Vol. 236 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kildare Water Scheme.

37.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he will now approve the proposal sent forward by Kildare County Council on 5th February, 1968 for a water supply for Scrawtown, Prosperous.

On the latest information available to me, the local authority do not regard this scheme, which forms part of a general proposal for the provision of water supply extensions in five other rural areas, as having a high priority on their public water supply programme. As the total number of houses involved is relatively small, it seems to me that the possibility of having the works carried out by group schemes should be investigated, and I propose to advise the council accordingly.

Surely the Minister is aware that this request went to him on 5th February last, and in spite of several reminders from the county council he has not even had the manners to reply to the council?

The scheme is not listed on the county council's current priority list.

On 5th February they asked the Minister for certain approval but he will not answer.

This scheme is not listed.
