Vol. 236 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Itinerant Camping Site.

23.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has yet made prohibition orders in respect of the parking of caravans as requested by Cork Corporation; and if not, when he will make such orders.

I have before me an application for the annulment of an order made by Cork Corporation prohibiting the parking of caravans in the northwest portion of the city. I feel that it would be premature for me to make a decision in this case until I am satisfied that the corporation has made reasonable progress in the provision at alternative suitable camping sites for itinerants.

24.

asked the Minister for Local Government the date upon which compulsory purchase orders were made by Cork Corporation on sites for itinerant camps at Model Farm Road and Balyvolane; the date upon which his Department's inquiry was held in respect of these sites; and when he intends to make a decision on the matter.

The orders were made on 1st March, 1968, and public local inquiries in relation to them were held between the 21st and 24th May, 1968, inclusive. I expect to give my decision on both orders shortly.
