Vol. 236 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Coast Erosion.

5.

asked the Minister for Finance the date on which he received the proposal from Cork County Council for a coast erosion grant towards the erection of a breakwater at Union Hall, Skibbereen; and when the council may expect a decision from him.

The proposal was received by the Commissioners of Public Works on the 29th February, 1964, but the statutory preliminary examination has not yet been undertaken. At this stage I cannot say when a report may be made to the county council.

Is that the usual length of time between the application being made and the specifications being carried out?

It is not uncommon in the context of the chronic scarcity of engineers——

——and of money and of the length of the list. I am sure the Deputy is aware of all this.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary say how many schemes there have been since the Act was passed?

If the Deputy puts down a question——

There were about three.

If the Deputy wants to ask a Parliamentary question there is a procedure for doing so.
