Vol. 237 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Houses for Newly-weds.

33.

asked the Minister for Local Government when Dublin Corporation will hold the next draw for houses for newly-weds; and the number of houses planned for allotment under this scheme.

I understand from Dublin Corporation that they have not yet decided when the next draw for dwellings for newly-weds will be held and how many dwellings will be provided.

Would the Minister ascertain that there will be another draw for newly-weds?

You were complaining before about there being no houses. Now you are complaining there is no draw for houses.

This is a matter for Dublin Corporation. If the Deputy is acquainted with any member of Dublin Corporation he should ask him about this.

(Interruptions.)

We have a lot of backbench Ministers here. Could the Minister ascertain from Dublin Corporation if there will be a draw?

Is there not a draw every year?

The Minister has control over the Dublin Corporation. I would ask the backbench Ministers not to interfere.

I wish to ask a supplementary.

I hope the Deputy will appreciate we have almost 200 questions.

I have been referred to by a Deputy from the Labour Party.

Are you a backbench Minister?

Is the Minister aware that it has already been published in the papers on a number of occasions that the Corporation were, in fact, holding a draw for houses this year and were going to allocate more houses to the newly-weds this year than last year?

The Deputy should tell the Minister that. He does not know.

Deputy O'Connell expects me to do not only his writing for him but also his reading.
