Vol. 239 No. 5

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Shortage of Foreign Wheat.

22.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if, having regard to the commitment of the Irish flour millers to mill a grist of 75 per cent native wheat and 25 per cent foreign, he will give the quantity and location of foreign wheat stored within the State; and if he is satisfied that there is sufficient foreign and native wheat to meet the needs of the people.

The quantity of imported wheat available at any time varies according to date of landings. Most imported wheat is discharged direct into port stores and is delivered as required to mills.

The answer to the second part of the question is "yes".
