Vol. 239 No. 5

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Register of Electors.

38.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has issued instructions to county councils to have the register of electors brought up to date so as to meet with the requirements of proposed changes in the constituency boundaries.

The attention of city managers and county secretaries was directed informally to the provisions of section 6 of the Electoral (Amendment) Bill, 1968, which concerns the making of temporary arrangements with respect to the register of electors consequent on constituency changes proposed in the Bill, and to the desirability of giving preliminary consideration at this stage to any administrative arrangements which may be necessary to give effect to the section if and when the Bill becomes law, which is today.
