Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Vocational Schools.

25.

asked the Minister for Education the present position concerning the proposed building schemes for vocational schools in County Kerry as recommended by Kerry Vocational Education Committee.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to circulate for inclusion in the Official Report a tabular statement giving the information requested by the Deputy.

Following is the statement:

Vocational School Building Schemes proposed by County Kerry Vocational Education Committee.

Ballylongford

Committee was informed in August last that the Department would not be warranted in sanctioning the proposal to build a vocational school there.

Castleisland Cahirciveen Dingle and Rathmore

Proposals by the committee to build permanent extensions to these schools have been under examination by the Department in conjunction with the facilities for post-primary education generally in these areas. A final decision has not yet been given.

Causeway Killarney and Kenmare

Proposals by the committee to extend these schools have been approved. Sketch plans for the extension of each of the three schools, which have been prepared by the committee's architect, are at present being examined by the Department.

Killorglin

The committee has recently proposed that a new school be erected. This proposal is under investigation by the Department.
