Vol. 239 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Walkinstown (Dublin) Site Purchase.

20.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when his Department acquired the plot of ground at the junction of Bunting Road and Cromwellsfort Road, Walkinstown, Dublin; and why they are erecting a structure on it contrary to the expressed opposition of Dublin County Council.

My Department has not acquired a plot of ground in the locality mentioned; therefore, the second part of the question does not arise.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that the secretary of the Dublin County Council has written a letter stating that the Department of Posts and Telegraphs have acquired a plot and that the Department is erecting a building on the plot? In view of this and if I spend the Parliamentary Secretary a copy of the letter in question, will he ensure that the Dublin County Council ceases to record untruths and to mislead members of the public in regard to the position affecting this plot?

I am not aware that the Dublin County Council wrote on those lines. I have no reason for being so aware, but certainly, if I get any indication that this has occurred, I shall take it up with the Dublin County Council.
