asked the Minister for Health whether any indication can be given as to the date for the establishment of the clinic for drug addicts promised last year; whether discussions with the medical authorities leading to its establishment have taken place; whether any consideration has been given to staffing requirements; and whether a director for such a clinic will be appointed.

A meeting has been arranged with a Dublin hospital to discuss the establishment of a clinic where persons could receive advice in regard to drugs and the treatment of addiction. Staffing arrangements will be considered at that meeting. I hope that following these discussions early agreement can be reached on the setting up of a clinic.
