Vol. 239 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Killala Bay Survey.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries what is the present position in regard to the survey carried out in Killala Bay.

Proposals for improvement works at Killala Harbour are being considered at present but I cannot say what the outcome may be.

The people in the Killala area have been promised that a report on that survey would be made available at an early date. With Deputy Calleary and other public representstives, I attended a meeting there. We were assured at the time that a report on the survey would be made available to the local committees. When will the Minister be able to furnish the information to the House and to the people?

This question makes no mention of the report nor, indeed, I am sure, is it intended by the Deputy merely to get a report on Killala. This question is as to the present position in regard to the survey carried out in Killala. I take it the Deputy is really interested, as other Deputies have already interested themselves, in the actual carrying out of some development or improvement works. I confined my reply, really, to the situation in regard to the consideration that is being given to the actual report that I have got with a view to doing something about improvement works at Killala. I am not in a position to say when action may be taken in this respect. That is really the reply that I have given.
