There is no proposal at present before my Department for the establishment of an aerodrome in the Sligo area.
Such a project is primarily a matter for local initiative and enterprise. If a potential site is selected, I will gladly arrange for its inspection by an officer of my Department to determine its suitability for the establishment of an aerodrome. So far as financial assistance is concerned, the promoters would have to satisfy the Minister for Finance on the economic viability of the project in order to be considered for a grant which would not exceed 50 per cent of the cost.
