Vol. 240 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Technical Schools.

65.

andMr. Harte asked the Minister for Education if any proposals for the extension of the technical school at Stranorlar, County Donegal, have been received in his Department; if so, the date on which they were received; and when he intends to grant sanction in respect of same.

Proposals by the Vocational Education Committee to extend Stranorlar vocational school were received in my Department in June, 1968.

Following examination of these proposals in relation to the overall requirements for post-primary education in the area, it was considered that the existing classroom accommodation in the vocational school was adequate.

The question of making arrangements for the erection of a hall/ gymnasium, library and general purpose room for use by the pupils of both the vocational and secondary schools is being examined by my Department at present.

66.

asked the Minister for Education if plans for a new technical school at Buncrana, County Donegal, have been received by his Department; and what is the present position concerning sanction for them.

Revised sketch-plans in respect of the proposed new technical school at Buncrana, have been received in my Department. These plans are at present being examined and a communication in regard to them will be addressed to the Vocational Education Committee shortly.
