Vol. 240 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Sligo Bridge.

54.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the reconstruction and widening of Ballisodare bridge, County Sligo; when application was made to his Department for this project; when he will sanction the money required; and if he will make a statement on the entire case.

The reconstruction of Ballisodare bridge has been the subject of correspondence with Sligo County Council since 1962 when a special 75 per cent grant was notified to the council. Revised drawings for the bridge were submitted to the Department in April, 1966, but at that stage the matter fell to be re-examined in relation to the possible realignment of the arterial road between Collooney and Sligo. This question which involves difficult issues in respect of alignment, standard and cost, is not yet settled, In the meantime consideration of the bridge reconstruction scheme has been deferred.
