Vol. 240 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway Planning Applications and Appeals.

20.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of planning applications received by Galway County Council for permission to erect hotels, motels and factories in each of the past four years; and the number that were refused.

The information requested by the Deputy is not available in my Department.

21.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of planning appeals made arising out of refusal to grant planning permission by Galway County Council in each of the last three years; and the percentage of such appeals granted.

The number of appeals against refusal to grant permission was as follows:

1966-67

67

1967-68

108

1968-69

181

The percentage of appeals received where permission was granted was 40 per cent, 39 per cent and 6 per cent respectively. It will be appreciated that the latter figure is not comparable because many of the appeals received in 1968-69 had not been disposed of before the end of the year.
