43.

andMr. Timmins asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the growing concern among retired civil servants at failure to grant parity of pensions with those civil servants now retiring; and if he will take steps to have this matter rectified as soon as possible.

44.

asked the Minister for Finance when it is proposed to grant parity of pensions to retired civil servants in order to have their pensions brought into line with those of civil servants now retiring.

45.

asked the Minister for Finance if, having regard to the considerable increase in the cost of living in the last four years, he will increase the pensions of members of the Garda Síochána who retired beforehand; and, if not, why.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 42 to 45 together.

This matter is one for consideration in conjunction with other matters appropriate to the Budget and it is therefore not possible at this stage to give any decision in regard to further pensions increases.
